My name is Sasha and ever since discovering the colourful world of Ubuntu I have been helping others install and use this wonderful operating system. Whether you want just a dual boot - where you keep Windows on your computer but have a new and cuddly OS happily sit next to it - or just the Ubuntu alone, I am here to help.

Ubuntu is probably the most popular Linux based operating system - it does not cost a penny, it is an open source and pleasure to use. It is virus-free and more stable than Windows, and the current release 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot) is the most user friendly of all of its distributions so far. However for those that wish to use it but are not familiar with Linux it may not be an easy start, particularly when it comes to the installation process. Unlike with Microsoft or Apple, the support for Linux comes mostly from the users' community and online forums, and getting the right information can sometimes be a bit tricky for a beginner.

This is where I can help. When you decide to install Ubuntu you can call me and we would agree for either: a.) me to come to your place (Leicester area only), b.) you to come to my place or c.) chose another venue, as long it has a broadband Internet connection, is available for the minimum of two hours and you want installation on your laptop only. I will than install it or, if you so wish, teach you how to do it yourself. During the initial call we will go through the basics of your hardware so as to determine the technical profile of our PC or a laptop.

After installing Ubuntu I will download the important updates and the proprietary elements - hence the necessity for the broadband connection. Than I will run you through the basic features and some programs that come bundled with the operating system. At the end I will offer you some guidelines and tips on how to install additional programs you may need and finally how to use the online forums for help.

The charge for this service is £35, whether done at your place or mine (if you however prefer a public venue, I may charge more as this option is very inconvenient and it always involves some third party charges). "Why only £35?", you may ask? Two reasons: I already earn as an illustrator and because Ubuntu is free to download, own and use.

Finally, should you need further support you can always pick up the phone and arrange to see me again or keep in touch through emails. Please note that I also offer support to the troubled Windows Vista users so if you are one of those than please let me know. An hourly rate applies.
